In the June 2014 issue of Golf Australia Magazine, Trentham is included in a list of 80 Australian courses (22 in Victoria) that offer the best value-for-money golfing experience in the country. The criteria for being listed is that the course must be of good quality with a green fee of under $40.

The 15th hole at Trentham (foreground) starts an 'impressive run of four holes back to the clubhouse', according to Golf Australia magazine.

The article, titled Dollar dazzlers: 80 courses you can play for $40 or less, begins by saying "with household budgets often stretched to snapping point, it might make you feel like you can't afford to play as much golf. But, as we reveal here, there are plenty of quality courses throughout Australia offering a great value-for-money golfing experience".

According to the review, "Trentham is a hidden gem that can be easily reached from Melbourne via the Calder Highway. Lush playing surfaces, including the best greens in the region, are flanked by mature native trees, while the topography presents enough variation to offer a superb mix of holes. The short downhill par-3 15th marks the start of an impressive quartet of holes leading back to the clubhouse".

The other 'quality' Victorian courses in the article offering good value are Port Fairy, Ballarat, Horsham, Lang Lang, Lonsdale, Phillip Island, Leongatha, Portarlington, Shepparton, Queenscliff, Warrnambool, Lakes Entrance, Sandringham, Trafalgar, Traralgon, Rosebud Park, Mildura, Yarra Bend, Yarram, Gisborne and Goonawarra.

Green fees at Trentham are $30 for 18 holes (seven days a week). The full adult membership of $475 per year is also remarkable value.
