Farewell to Dogleg

It is with sadness that Trentham Golf Club has to report that after a few decades of faithfully reporting golf results, firstly in the local newspapers and then on the Trentham Golf Club website, the legendary Dogleg has retired. Just like Laurie Oakes, the time has come for Dogleg to depart the media and have a well-earned rest.

However, things go on and a new breed of correspondents are now reporting the results. You may have already seen them on Facebook ... Dick Ellis on Thursdays, John Hudson on Saturdays and Julie Hanson for the women. Dogleg has also been superseded by technology with the automated full-field results produced by the OneGolf competition system. Members can log in to OneGolf to see in-depth results, albeit without the dry humour. The women will be relieved they are no longer having a stroke!

We wish Dogleg a long and happy retirement.

Course conditions

14th September 2017

Fairways: A lot of rain in the last two months has provided an excellent grass cover, but there can be some mud adhering to balls. A lift, clean and place rule is in operation on closely-mown surfaces only. Please keep motorised carts off damp areas and away from slopes.

Greens: Very good. Not much grass growth in the cold conditions but they are rolling truly.

Surrounds: Excellent. Please keep motorised carts well away from green surrounds to avoid damaging surfaces.
