Club competitions

Visitors with Australian Golflink handicaps are welcome to play in our competitions. The cost is half green fees ($15) plus a $5 competition fee.

Tee-off times

Wednesday: Women 9.30
Thursday: Mixed 11.00-12.30
Saturday: Men 10.00-12.30, Women 11.45 for a 12.00 tee off

Please note that competitions will be cancelled when the maximum predicted temperature for Melbourne is 42°C or greater.

There was a field of 15 players for the Stableford in honour of Her Majesty on Monday. Bob Hogan (22) was the winner with 38 points, followed by Ian Power 37, Les Healey 36 and John Hudson 35.

In the women's singles knockout, two more matches were played. Marg Brierley defeated Ruth Duffy in a marathon on the 22nd hole. Mandy Bestwick defeated Vicky Adamson 4 and 3. The final will be played between Marg and Mandy.

Nine women played in the Elaine Hanson trophy par event on Wednesday. Veronica Maher won with -2 and also won both nearest the pins. Julie Hanson received a ball for runner-up.

It was Bradley's Curtains trophy day with a Par event on Thursday. The trophy winner was Colin Wilson who also won A Grade with a good score of +4. In B Grade it took a countback for Harold Moore to be declared the winner with +2. Good scores were also recorded by Mark Fisher +2, Ron Wakeling +2, Garry Ford +1, Geoff Durham +1 and Doug Hartwig +1. Nearest the pins were won by Alan Hopkins, Harold Moore, Michael Hotchin and Ian Cornthwaite.

In the men's doubles knockout semi-finals on Saturday, Ian Broome and Gerard Hughes defeated Glenn Cornish and Bob Hogan 4 and 3, and Brendan and Peter McMenamin defeated Tim Danks and John Sadler 3 and 2. Ian and Gerard will meet Brendan and Peter in the final next week.

The remainder of the men played Stableford, and there was some very tight scoring. Martin Walker was the winner in A Grade with 38, Ian Power won B Grade with 39 and Harold Moore took out C Grade with 37. Shane Robinson, Daniel Reed Rogers, Mark Fisher and Kevin Sheedy all had 37 points, while Marc Merigan, Darrin McLean, Bob Penrose and Max Hinneberg all had 36.

Nearest the pin winners were Phil Kyte, Alan Hopkins, Ken Anders and Colin Wilson.

Eleven women played Par. Sue Byrne won with -3 and runner-up was Kirsten Jensen with -5. Sue Byrne and Di Hynes received a ball each for nearest the pin.

Course conditions

 Fairways: A lot of rain in the last two months has provided an excellent grass cover, but there can be some mud adhering to balls. A lift, clean and place rule is in operation on closely-mown surfaces only. Please keep motorised carts off damp areas and away from slopes.

 Greens: Very good. Not much grass growth in the cold conditions but they are rolling truly.

 Surrounds: Excellent. Please keep motorised carts well away from green surrounds to avoid damaging surfaces.
