In the women's stroke on Wednesday, Sue Byrne had a great score of 88-16=72 to win the medal. Runner-up was Chris Schussler with 75 nett.

The Thursday monthly medal day was sponsored by Drummond Golf Niddrie as always. The medal was won by the B Grade winner Dick Ellis with 83-15=68. In A Grade Robin Wilson won with 76-7=69, and in C Grade Michael Hotchin was the winner with 104-35=69.

Others to score well were Simon Ovenden 70, with Tom Hamlin, Alan Snowden, Geoff Durham and Colin Wilson all on 71. Nearest the pins were won by Tom Hamlin, Gary Middleton, and Ross Fletcher (2).

In the men's Stableford on Saturday, cold conditions kept a few away, and the slippery greens kept scores fairly average. In a two-grade field, Russell Hanson was the winner of A Grade with 37 points, while Harold Moore confessed some embarrassment to win B Grade with 34 points. Alan Snowden, Gary Middleton and Simon Overden all had 36 points, but found themselves in the wrong grade to win.

Nearest the pins were won by John Hudson, Peter Speakman and Glenn Cornish (2).

Sue Byrne won a small women's field with a very good 86-16=70.

Course conditions

14th September 2017

Fairways: A lot of rain in the last two months has provided an excellent grass cover, but there can be some mud adhering to balls. A lift, clean and place rule is in operation on closely-mown surfaces only. Please keep motorised carts off damp areas and away from slopes.

Greens: Very good. Not much grass growth in the cold conditions but they are rolling truly.

Surrounds: Excellent. Please keep motorised carts well away from green surrounds to avoid damaging surfaces.
