Glorious day for Trentham Plate

It would be hard to imagine a better day for holding the 40th Trentham Plate, on Sunday November 11 under cloudless skies and with little wind. The course was in superb condition for the day with great fairway condition and fast greens.

The winning team was from Trentham: Julie Hanson, Rhonda Bradley, Jim Bradley and John Smithwick, who scored 103 points.

The winning team: Rhonda Bradley, Nathan Hanson, Jim Bradley, Julie Hanson and John Smithwick. Nathan's uncle, Lance Hanson (after whom the plate is named) was a member who died many years ago from Cystic Fibrosis, and Nathan was representing the Hanson family at the event.

The individual women's Stableford was won by Veronica Maher (22) with 37 points, while Simon Ovenden (6) had a sub-par round to record 43 points in winning the men's. Nearest the pins were Men: Simon Ovenden 2nd, Tim Heywood (Mt Xavier) 5th and 15th, Ross Brosnan 15th, Women: 5th Elaine Hanson, 13th Deborah McNulty (Mt Xavier).

Monday Muggers

The Monday Muggers is a group of club members that play social golf on most Mondays throughout the year at the club, followed by a barbeque. Players assemble at 9.00 am for a 9.30 am 'multi-tee' hit-off. Friends and visitors (including occasional golfers) are welcome.

Trentham Travellers

The Monday Muggers sometimes organise visits to other golf clubs, and they become known as the Trentham Travellers. They may organise day trips to nearby clubs, or 2-3 day trips to more distant locations e.g. the Murray River. The feature is good golf with friends and a welcoming social atmosphere. If you are interested in these visits, please contact Dick Ellis or Harold Moore.
