Trentham strengthens financial position

At the Annual General Meeting held on Saturday November 23, Trentham Golf Club reported a stronger financial position for the year. While net profit for the year was only $1709, this was reduced by a much-increased depreciation allowance. Cash at bank increased by $34,000 to $154,403, allowing a number of projects to be funded for next year, including an al fresco outdoor area for the clubhouse, renovation of the 17th green and continued rehabilitation of the former pine plantation areas. Membership increased by 10% to 257, including a good number of new women members. Importantly, the club continues to fully-fund provisions for staff leave and long-service.

Highlights of 2019 included considerable improvement work around the course, increased numbers in mens and womens competitions, establishment of a par-3 course, outstanding ongoing work by the course volunteer group and record numbers in the annual tournament. All this work and the overall club management culminated in Trentham being awarded 2019 Victorian Golf Club of the Year.

The new Committee for 2020 is Keith Webster (President), John Hudson (Captain), David Nugent (Treasurer), Russell Hanson (Secretary), Julie Hanson, Di Lewis, Terry South, Mike Hotchin, Geoff Durham, Simon Ovenden and Colin Wilson.

Monday Muggers

The Monday Muggers is a group of club members that play social golf on most Mondays throughout the year at the club, followed by a barbeque. Players assemble at 9.00 am for a 9.30 am 'multi-tee' hit-off. Friends and visitors (including occasional golfers) are welcome.

Trentham Travellers

The Monday Muggers sometimes organise visits to other golf clubs, and they become known as the Trentham Travellers. They may organise day trips to nearby clubs, or 2-3 day trips to more distant locations e.g. the Murray River. The feature is good golf with friends and a welcoming social atmosphere. If you are interested in these visits, please contact Dick Ellis or Harold Moore.
