Our green keeper Sam Bruton finished up at Trentham on Friday September 3 to take up a position with the Hepburn Shire Council.
Sam has been with the club for 13 years since starting in his late teens as an apprentice under Bob Dobinson. In this time, he has been an important member of the team that has continually presented Trentham as one of the best courses in country Victoria. He has seen many changes at the club over the years, large and small, and his dedication and work ethic have never been questioned. As part of the greenkeeping team, he did a magnificent job in helping the course recover from the devastating June storm.
Sam has been an integral part of the golf course putting on a new face to the members and public for more than a decade. He has a great affection for the the club and its members, and he expresses a great pride in the work he has accomplished. In talking with him, he has enjoyed his time at the club and will no doubt be back playing on his favourite layout when time allows.
On behalf of everyone at Trentham -- members and committees, past and present -- we wish Sam the best of good fortune in his new challenge at Hepburn Shire and all his future endeavours.
