Record fields in teams events

Teams and pairs events feature strongly in Trentham's Annual Tournament. This year excellent fields of 120 players or more participated in the Fourball Stableford, 4-person Ambrose and the American Foursomes.

Fourball Stableford, Wednesday October 18

The event was also a qualifier for the 2024 Victorian 4BBB Championship final. A minimum of five pairs (two men's, two women's and a mixed pair) qualified for the final held at Spring Valley and Kingston Heath Golf Clubs on Monday 15 and Tuesday 16 January 2024.

In the men's event, Alan Hopkins and Derek Jones (Gisborne) showed a clean pair of heels to the remainder of the field with 47 points. Trentham father-son pairing Trevor and Haydn McKeon were runners-up with 44 points.

In the women's event, Trentham's Jenny Cutter and Anne McKeon were the winners with 45 points. Former Trentham member Christine Schussler and her sister Helen Laffey, both from Wentworth GC in NSW, were runners-up with 42 points.

The mixed event was very closely fought. A countback was need to separate winners Alan Snowden and Kirsten Jensen from runners-up Terri O'Callaghan and Huw John, both Trentham pairs finishing on 44 points. Debra Icely and Andrew Allan (Latrobe GC) and Judith Elliott and Chris Philpott (Lakeside Melb GC) were very close on 43.

Four-person Ambrose, Friday October 20

A great field of 32 teams enjoyed perfect conditions in the tournament 4-person Ambrose. The event was sponsored by Belle Property Trentham and Daylesford.

Mens Scratch: James Quayle, Aaron Braeckmans, Hayden Budds, Shaun McArthur (Midlands Golf Club) 55

Mens Handicap: Andrew Holdsworth (Trentham), James Reid (Portsea), Ian McGilp (Green Acres), Thomas King (Barwon Heads) 48.875

Mixed: Alan Snowden, Kirsten Jensen, Alex Evered, John Smithwick (Trentham) 55.375

Women: Ruth Duffy, Bern Price, Veronica Maher, Sue Byrne (Trentham) 62.375

American Foursomes, Saturday October 21

Another great field of 124 players participated in the American Foursomes, sponsored by Elders Kyneton and Drummond Golf Ballarat. We thank them for their continuing support.

In the men's handicap the winners were Sam Giblett and Kris Madigan from Midland Golf Club with 62.5. The women's event was won by Trish Mann and Sally Kirkright (Trentham) on 71.625, and the mixed was won by Sue Byrne and John Hudson (Trentham) with 67.125.
